New Life

Gardening can be so rewarding, although it often involves hard work.  I love to walk around my garden at this time of year and discover new shoots or bulbs sprouting.  I look forward to the beautiful flowers which will appear before long bringing colour and fragrance that can be enjoyed by all who visit.  There is a preparation time though, and much thought has to go into the planting.

At the end of the summer, just as most of the flowers are beginning to die, I begin looking for and collecting the seeds in readiness for sowing in the new year.  As I collect those tiny brown and black seeds and the withered-up bulbs, I wonder and marvel at our Great Creator who can transform these into a thing of such beauty, just through them being buried in the soil.

In our garden we have a plum tree which has an abundance of fruit each summer, all because of one 'dead' plum stone which was thrown into the garden many years before.

The Bible tells us likewise, that it was necessary for the Lord Jesus to die, to be buried and to rise again on the third day so that we can enjoy the fruits of new life -  eternal life.

“I tell you the truth, unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.”

John 12v24

Over the Easter period we remember that Jesus died on a cross where HE bore the punishment for OUR wrongdoings (sin). He did it willingly because He loves us so much and wants us to admit to our sin and ask His forgiveness.

With all the new life around us this springtime, what could be better than to have a new life with Jesus as your Saviour and Guide?
