Are you looking in the right place?

I wonder if your household is anything like mine! Someone is always searching for something that has been lost.  This time it is an extremely precious item which cannot be replaced.  You spend hours searching everywhere, then later someone says “Have you looked...? I last saw it there!”

To your relief it is there.  Mingled with the joy of finally finding the object is the frustration of having spent so much time and effort looking for it in the wrong place.

In a garden outside Jerusalem a lady called Mary, a follower of Jesus, had come to the tomb where she had been told Jesus was buried.  Jesus was very special to her.  Mary had spent over three years watching Him heal people and perform many miracles and also listening to his wonderful teachings.  Now Jesus was dead, condemned by her own people and crucified on a cross.

Mary and the rest of Jesus’ followers were dejected and sad that they had lost such a special friend - one that they thought would be their King and leader.  Now Jesus was gone forever and they felt hopelessly lost.

Intending to place spices on the dead body, Mary came to the tomb early in the morning only to find that Jesus wasn’t there.  She was devastated by this discovery.

Then she saw some angels that told her she was looking in the wrong place and that Jesus was alive.  Can you begin  to imagine the relief and the joy Mary felt? But the joy would have been tinged with regret at having forgotten that Jesus had told his followers that he must die and rise again.

Are you looking in the wrong place for the answers to life’s problems?...look no further...read the Bible...you will find Jesus is the answer.  He can save you from your sin(your wrong thoughts and actions towards God). His death on a cross paid the penalty for your sin and His resurrection from the dead means HE IS ALIVE TODAY...HAVE YOU FOUND HIM YET?
