New Life at Easter![]() Just before Christmas my wife and I had the privilege of becoming grandparents again, not once, but twice within 18 days! Two new lives, one a boy, one a girl, to love and to enjoy! How wonderful is new life, but what will they make of life? We should take stock at Easter time about our lives. What is success? How can we be really happy? We are only here in this life for around 70 years, so we had better not judge success or happiness by how much we accumulate to leave behind us. Happiness that runs deep and that lasts is elusive outside of a relationship with our Creator. 'Happy is the one that trusts in the Lord' says the Bible. Easter is the time when we remember that Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose again from the dead. Jesus Christ is God the Father's great gift to us, to demonstrate His great love for us, even though we don't deserve it because of our rebellion against Him. 'Christ died for our sins' says the Bible, and God the Father demonstrated He had accepted His Son's sacrifice by raising Him from the dead. Raised from the dead! The visitors to the tomb found it empty that first Easter morning. The body was gone, but the graveclothes were still there, wound up where they had been. Even the cloth round His head was there in its separate place! Two disciples saw this and realised the body had vanished from within the clothes. This convinced them that Jesus had risen from the dead. They turned from feeling despondent into being full of joy. They endured great persecutions because they boldly proclaimed His resurrection and new life in Christ. They were changed men. They had new life. Many since have experienced this for themselves and so can you this Easter. The Bible says 'Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved'. This is the only way to have new life and know true happiness. |
