An interview with Fan Zhang

You were born in China  what brought you to England?

I was working in IT Security in Shanghai, when a friend suggested that I come over to do a PhD at Surrey University.

Did you come from a religious background?

No. I didn't even believe in a God.

So what led you to come along to a Church?

For some months I'd been feeling very restless and unhappy and I started looking for peace. I spoke with a Christian colleague and surfed the Internet to try to find answers. On one particular evening when I was walking home from work I noticed a light on in the building over the road from where I lived and I felt compelled to go in. The church were running their annual Christianity Explored course and invited me to stay for the meal.

So what happened?

I came back the next week and I prayed the very first prayer of my life as I asked God for forgiveness and accepted Jesus Christ as my Saviour.  I knew that I had found my answer and since then I have experienced great joy and peace. Two months after that I was baptised.

Has your new Christian faith changed your life?

Yes - every area of my life!  I have experienced first hand the power of prayer and I receive great comfort and guidance as I read the Bible.
