From South East Asia to North America to Europe to …

I was born and lived in Malaysia until I was 15. Unusually for that part of the world my brother and I grew up in a Christian home.  Both my parents were dedicated to teaching us about God, and taking us to Church.  My father also influenced my love of music. [We are grateful to him because Debbie is our church pianist!]

My family emigrated to Canada so that my brother and I could receive a good university education.  We moved to Richmond, British Columbia, in 1988 where we soon settled into a new way of life and culture, and joined a local church.  After finishing high school I studied Physiotherapy at the University of British Columbia and then pursued a career in that field.

As a family we holidayed throughout Malaysia and North America.  This fuelled my appetite to explore the world further.  Little did I know that I would meet my English husband, Geoff, while I was on a 6-week tour of China.

After 4 years in a long-distance relationship, Geoff made a surprise visit to Canada and proposed to me.  Almost fifteen years after leaving Malaysia, I packed my bags and moved to England.  We were married in Vancouver in June 2004.  I now work as a physiotherapist in Guildford.

I accepted Jesus Christ as my Saviour when I was 12 years old.  Since then, God has been teaching me more about Himself and what He has planned for my life.  I face many challenges on a daily basis but God gives me the strength and courage to deal with each one.  I don't know what the future holds for me but a Bible verse which I learned in my early years at Sunday School says, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah chapter 29 verse 11, The Bible)
