I became a 'Christian' 19 years ago.  I wasn't looking for God and I had never been to church other than for weddings.  My life was fairly normal.  I have happy memories of growing up in my family, which consisted of my dad, mum, two older brothers and one much younger brother.  My mum and dad didn't go to church and I have to be honest I thought that anyone who did was a bit 'weird'.

As a teenager I appeared popular and confident, had a good crowd of friends and had no interest in God.  However this changed when I was invited to church by my boyfriend's mum.  I didn't want to go, but also I didn't want to offend so I attended a 'Gospel' service, where they teach the good news of Jesus and His love for us.

The speaker spoke from the Bible and I was deeply shocked.  It appeared as if he knew all about me and on that evening I became deeply aware of my need for Jesus in my life and I knew I needed to ask for my sins to be forgiven.  That night I prayed to God for exactly that.

Immediately I felt better and over the following days, weeks and months I believe people would have noticed a change in me.  The change wasn't down to me, but it was God working in me.

I also began to read my Bible, to pray and to attend Manor Road Hall.  I still go to this church.

Much later my boyfriend became my husband and now we have been blessed with three children.  Our lives are not perfect or problem free, but God is at the centre and He is with us at all times and helps us through all things.
